How it works

The Hospital Appointment Management System lets patients book consultations from any phone through an Africa's Talking USSD menu, and gives hospital staff a web dashboard to manage patients, doctors, services, time slots and appointments.

Booking by USSD

1. Dial the hospital's USSD code (for example *384*743106#).
2. Choose a service, then a doctor offering it.
3. Choose one of the doctor's open time slots and confirm.
4. An SMS with a six-character booking code arrives. Present it at the hospital.

For staff

New bookings appear instantly on the dashboard over WebSockets, whichever channel they came from. Access is role based: an administrator adds you to the Receptionist, Doctor or Administrator group.
